ToonFusion Oregon – Bag & Weapons Policy

Venue: Lane Events Center – Eugene, Oregon

ToonFusion Oregon is committed to keeping our attendees, guests, and staff safe while still letting everyone show off their creativity and cosplay. The following policies outline what’s allowed inside the venue and how to keep your props, costumes, and bags compliant.

Bag Policy

  1. All bags are subject to inspection by event or venue security at any time.

    • This includes backpacks, purses, fanny packs, camera bags, and cosplay prop containers.

    • Random re-checks may occur when re-entering the building.

     

  2. Clear bags are recommended but not required.

    • If you bring a non-clear bag, expect additional screening.

    • Large luggage-style bags or rolling suitcases are not allowed on the show floor (except authorized vendors).

     

  3. Size limit:

    • Personal bags should not exceed 18” x 13” x 7”.

    • Exceptions may be made for medical bags, diaper bags, and professional photography gear with advance approval.

     

  4. Prohibited items include:

    • Outside food or drink (except sealed water bottles or medical needs)

    • Alcohol, drugs, or illegal substances

    • Tools, sharp objects, or any real weapon components

     

  5. Cosplay storage:

    • Oversized props or gear not allowed on the floor can be stored off-site or left in your vehicle.

    • The event is not responsible for lost or unattended items.

     

Weapons & Props Policy

  1. Real weapons are strictly prohibited.

    This includes:

    • Firearms (real, replica, or decommissioned)

    • Ammunition or live rounds

    • Tasers, pepper spray, or stun guns

    • Metal or live-steel blades

    • Functional projectile weapons (bows, airsoft, BB, paintball, slingshots, etc.)

     

  2. All props must be inspected and peace-bonded before entry.

    • Visit the Weapons Check Desk near registration.

    • Approved props will receive a colored tag or zip tie that must stay attached during the event.

    • Any untagged prop may be removed or held by staff.

     

  3. No active effects.

    • Props cannot fire, smoke, flash, or create loud sounds.

    • No lasers, pyrotechnics, or CO₂ devices are permitted.

     

  4. Prop materials:

    • Foam, rubber, plastic, resin, or cardboard are all acceptable.

    • Wood props may be approved if edges are dull and not reinforced with metal.

    • Full metal props are not permitted under any circumstance.

     

  5. Bows and arrows:

    • Must be unstrung or strung with a non-tension cord.

    • Arrows must have soft foam or rubber tips.

     

  6. Replica firearms:

    • Must have a clearly visible orange tip or painted muzzle.

    • Triggers must be disabled; no working magazines or internal mechanisms.

     

  7. Whips, chains, and flexible props:

    • Must be soft, lightweight materials like foam, rope, or fabric.

    • No metal chains or weighted ends.

     

Venue & Legal Notes

  • The Lane Events Center and Eugene Police Department reserve the right to inspect or deny entry of any item.

  • Carrying firearms or dangerous weapons in a public building without authorization violates Oregon Revised Statutes §166.360–§166.380.

  • Violation of these policies may result in removal from the event without refund and potential law enforcement involvement.

Behavior & Enforcement

  • Do not swing, brandish, or point props at anyone.

  • Unsafe or aggressive behavior will result in removal.

  • Staff and security have final authority on what is and isn’t allowed inside the venue.

Pre-Approval

If you’re not sure whether your prop or costume will pass inspection, email [email protected]  with photos and details before the event.

Final Reminder

We want you to show off your fandom safely. Please respect staff direction during inspections and on the show floor — it keeps everyone’s weekend smooth and fun.
